The guides were freakin awesome. Uncle Les & company made the trip super fun, and very informative. They are very proud Hawaiian people, and am very thankful for their Aloha. Excellent service. Super fun tour.
great ride to secluded areas. Only about an actual hour of riding though. The views were great.
I was a first time ATV rider and felt well taken care of. Having to repeat the same info twice a day, every day could become tedious. You wouldn't know it with this group of guides. They were happy, patient and informative. It's not a complicated thing to ride an ATV, but never having done it I didn't know what to expect. It was a great tour. Long enough on the ATV's, with just enough stops to learn a little and enjoy the breathtaking views. As with any vacation tour it's expensive, but felt I got my money's worth. Tour guides have an "Aloha Jar". They are well worth a generous tip.
Let me just say, I have never drove an ATV before but they teach you the basics and the trail is easy enough. By the end of the tour I felt like AN EXPERT and I had a blast!
The pros: the tour guides were knowledgeable and the ATVs were very nice
The cons: It is very commercialized. The tour groups are way too big. Which means that it’s a very long slow line of follow the leader. There’s a reason the ATVs are so nice and well maintained. I think I got above 10mph only a handful of times during the trip. If this is your first time on any type of vehicle, this might be the tour for you. But if your actually trying to ride an ATV and not just a souped up go cart, I’m sure there’s better options out there. Another thing I didn’t like is the wording on the waivers they made you sign at the last minute. They don’t tell you until you get there that you have to sign waivers for any damages to the vehicle. Which is fine, I understand that. What’s shady af is the wording on the waivers. It’s something along the lines of it’s their discretion as to how much you would owe if there was any damages vice a mechanics quote for actual cost of damages. And the minimum you could be charged is $650. That’s the lowest number they threaten to charge you with regardless what the damage might be.
The day we went, it was raining and we didn't have good views but it didn't matter. This tour was worth every penny. Even without out the view, the myths and legends our guide - Elia - told us were engrossing. We got the history of the valley from a local bruddah and that is best.
Beautiful story telling and beautiful country. A must do activity for the Kohala Coast.
This was only ok.
