Nice local spot. Very busy the weekend we went and people had left rubbish which we ended up hauling out. Beach is nice for swimming if water isn't too rough. The river is cold to swim in, but great to cool off in. Beautiful drive in.
This beach is rather rocky, very windy, and beautiful. The waterfalls around make it rather special amongst all the beaches I went to.
This beach was the best we visited! Strong current and huge waves, but great for body surfing, boogie boarding or regular surfing. make sure you have a vehicle with 4 wheel drive before attempting the drive it takes to get to this beach. Also, Waipi'o had the best sand!!! I'm definitely going back!
They have redone the road to the beach and it is much easier to pass. My favorite spot on the island. So beautiful and so calm. Please be respectful of this sacred place and take your garbage with you. Nothing makes me more upset than to see people not respecting this sacred site.
You have to have a 4x4 car to get here, if you are ready to do the hike doit, but i would recommend you to ask for a ride if you are not in the mood. It is a pretty black sand beach that merges with the river, you will see big waves and if you are not wave lover go to the river. There is a lot of local people. The vibre of the place is just relaxing. You can see maui from here.
